EUSA Asia Pacific CONFERENCE 2023.Bangkok, Thailand
Thursday 29 & Friday 30 June 2023
Twenty-five Years of EU Studies in the Indo-Pacific: challenges, changes, prospects.
The 2023 EUSAAP annual conference and postgraduate workshop hosted by Chulalongkorn University and EUSA Thailand will celebrate and revisit the state of EU Studies within our region. This past quarter century has seen a number of frameworks introduced spanning from the ASEM format initiated in 1996 to the 2021 EU Indo-Pacific Strategy, and interspersed with the designation of four Indo-Pacific countries as EU Strategic Partners (Japan, Korea, China, India). This conference invites papers that explore these innovations and changing priorities embracing interdisciplinary perspectives – International Relations, Political Science, Law, Economics and History.

Paper Upload
Paper Upload
Due to technical limitations with the current EUSAAP website, conference papers will be collected via the conference Google drive.
In addition, conference presentations should be uploaded to the Google drive to prevent and minimise potential technical issues with screensharing, presentations disappearing, etc (link below). The Google Drive organisation is laid out below.
Please check the programme below to find your session and stream. Then go into the Google drive and navigate to the respective session under Final Papers, and upload your final paper there. Repeat this process with your presentation under the ‘PowerPoint Presentations’ folder.
Please only upload word (.docx) or pdf documents.
Please check that you are uploading the correct file. Whilst every effort is made, we cannot guarantee that we will be able to switch an incorrectly uploaded file with a revised version.
Please name the file as follows: LastName_FirstName_Title of paper.docx

Logistical Information
Conference, Venue and Hotel Information
The designated conference hotel is Pathumwan Princess which will be used for accommodation and as conference venue (https://www.pprincess.com/location.html), which is adjacent to the Graduate School Building of Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok (https://www.grad.chula.ac.th/en/index.php). The hotel is directly accessible by Bangkok’s BTS sky train system (National Stadium).
EUSAAP will cover up to TWO nights of paid accommodation at the conference hotel for paper givers not living within commuting distance of the venue. Additional nights are individual responsibilities. Rooms will be booked for arrival on Wednesday, 28 June, and departure on Friday, 30 June 2023. Please note that only these nights can be covered. It will not be possible for the organisers to pay for any other nights.
For papers that are co-authored and/or several authors attending the conference, only one set of costs will be covered. For example, if the paper presentation is shared between two authors, we will only be able to cover the costs of one person.
Unless arranged otherwise in writing with the conference organisers, a single room is booked for conference presenters. The single rooms cannot be used by two people. Postgraduate workshop participants will be allocated twin rooms (same-sex only). Any additional guests staying at the hotel must be registered and pay the costs at check-in. If any additional nights have been booked at your cost (and confirmed in writing by the conference organisers), these must be paid for at check-in.
The conference will also cover breakfasts and lunches at the hotel on conference days as well as a welcome reception and cultural event.

Registration Fees
Registration Fees
The conference and postgraduate workshop events are planned as mainly in-person events. We are monitoring the ongoing pandemic, however, at this stage, it is not planned to offer a virtual component.
EUSAAP is working hard to keep registration fees affordable. Fees include catering during the conference and a conference dinner. Please choose your registration type carefully (academic or student) during the registration process.
Please understand that all registration fees are non-refundable. Registration fees are payable at registration and charged via PayPal. Unfortunately EUSAAP cannot accept bank transfers, cheques or cash as currency conversion and/or banking fees often outweigh the registration fees.
