Joanna Mossop


Joanna Mossop is an Associate Professor in law at Victoria University of Wellington (VUW). Her research interests are focused on the law of the sea and recent publications have addressed topics including maritime security, biodiversity beyond national jurisdiction, international dispute settlement and the continental shelf.

Her book, The Continental Shelf Beyond 200 Nautical Miles: Rights and Responsibilities (OUP, 2016) was the joint winner of the JF Northey Memorial Book award for the best law book published by a New Zealand-based author. She is on the editorial board of several journals and has provided advice and training to the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade and other New Zealand government departments.
